My kit is stocked with more extended duration survival gear, but this site has some interesting things for strictly bugging out of an urban environment.
Cheap "tube tents" and "space bags", stuff like that. Much of it can be found in Wallys.

Can opener is .50 for military one surplus
I think a boy scout metal match would be better than match what do you think? $2
fishin line sinkers and hooks I have extra so free
550 cord I have 1000 ft. so can spare 50 ft. so free
I can find a hatchet for $4 at flee market surely
I don't know about multi tool the cheap ones are almost worthless They break so easy I may have to splurge a little there
Mini maglight $8 at walmart with two extra bulbs batt included not led old style but will work
We have got shelter ,fire, and tools
OK We are already at 22.50 and still need pack, first aid, and Water container and anything else yall can think of still need help think Cheap but quality as possible
Not only is this a good thing for nonstop this will help all noob and give us cheap ideas for caches spending this little amount you can have a bunch of caches without spending alot this is great stuff I may do one for myself too.

Oh, I get it, lol.
I just went through the welcome to new members. Nonstop new to prepping.
I started with the basics, weeks worth of food and inexpensive food type gathering fire arm.
Been slowly adding from there.
I'll think it over and offer some more advice.

H2O tabs. also he can go to a discount store(like big lots/odd lots ) and get foil packed tuna or ckn for around .85 to 1.00 each. They usually have shelf life of 4 years. Basic need , food , water and the means to keep it.

Just a note on the multi-tool. I have had:
Kershaw
Gerber
Leatherman
el-cheapo
Buck
SOG
Bear Cutlery

Hands down the 2 I like the best and have stood up the longest have been the Kershaw vice grip style and Gerber. I am presently trying out the SOG and so far like it. Not too fond of the unfolding type like the Bear and Leatherman, you can open the Gerber 1 handed and the SOG/Kershaw have fixed jaws. Gerber is about $30, Kershaw is about $75 and SOG was $60 but you get what you pay for. My BOB has a total of 3 multi-tools, 2 folding knives, 2 Kershaw blade traders, 1 had standard blade, fillet knife and saw the other has standard blade, gut hook and saw.

For your bug out bag, Mountain house is decent stuff. I think you can buy it on line for a bit less and get a beter selection though. For your home, I really suggest that you follow a method called "store what you eat and eat what you store"...your family will thank you and your budget will thank you. Once you have about a 3 month supply, you can start adding longer term stuff.

In Pm you sent you bought some good stuff. Your on the right track. The way you are doing it by just jumping in there with both feet trying to learn as fast as you can and going right out and getting your bob together is good as far as your mess kit that you bought a army surplus 1 qt canteen in pouch with canteen cup fits right in cuts down on weight and room you take up for all $8 at army surplus just be sure to bleach it keep up the good work

My problem with "store what you eat and eat what you store", is we eat mostly fresh foods.

LOL

That's Mrs Bid's main complaint too.
O.K. if youve got a decent veggie garden, though that's not always possible for some folk.
When in doubt, apply rule ·223 or ·308 -- unless you have a more preferred calibre.
