the technology it uses is FDA Approved. Most of out waste water treatment plants use this. Although they use a combination of this and other treatments. Also Dentist use this on they equipment too. Sorry for the non-information post just wanted to let you know who uses it. It has decent reviews on amazon. Its 60.00 before shipping so i guess its up to you. Im sure boiling the water would be better than this thing though. Also it apparently EATS Lithium AA batteries. All on you bud. Good Luck. :D

I think I will stick with a good filter and chemical treatment.
Gardia cyst are pretty hard to destroy and I just wouldnt trust a light to do it.

Although it is a good idea and you could use on vampires too.

I think that any water you do need to sterilise you would definitely want to filter first, NOW if you had a distiller then i think this would work pretty good but there is always the battery issue also.
    Thanks,

It uses UV to break down certain microorganisms or render them unable to reproduce. The issue with personal electronic UV treatment options is you may not treat the water long enough to inhibit the microorganisms. On the other hand it is pretty nifty!

I thought about buying one to keep in the saddle bag of my motorcycle, just in case. The price though is prohibitive, so i just put water purification tablets in it for time being, and bought MSR microworks water filters in my back packs.
